Genesis target is slowly dissolved by a strong acid (closed system stepwise etching, CSSE) thereby allowing solar wind particles to be released step by step.	Team member at CSSE Device	The Albatros, a so-called mass spectrometer, separately analyses atoms of the same element but of different mass (isotopes).	Solar wind particles are released from tiny spots of Genesis targets by a strong UV laser beam, undectable by the human eye.
